Charlotte, NC – Adrian Perez Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Eastway Dr

Charlotte, NC (April 26, 2021) – At 9 p.m. on the night of Saturday, April 24, a man was killed in a pedestrian accident on a roadway in Charlotte.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the accident happened at 1000 Eastway Drive. Police arrived at the scene to find that three pedestrians, as well as a Dodge Caravan and a Mercedes Benz, were involved in a collision.

Police confirmed that 69-year-old Adrian Perez was driving a Dodge Caravan when it suddenly became disabled in the roadway. Perez, as well as two other pedestrians, tried to assist with the disabled van. The Mercedes-Benz was traveling in the area when it struck all three pedestrians at the rear of the van. The Mercedes also struck the van.

Police confirmed that the driver of the Mercedes, identified as 51-year-old Antonio Rayvon Garriet, was driving while impaired at the time of the accident. He was charged with driving with a revoked license, failing to register his vehicle, and more.

Adrian Perez was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The other two pedestrians were taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
