Lexington, NC – Kyle Blackwell Killed in Motorcycle Crash on W Fifth Ave

Lexington, NC (April 7, 2021) – On Wednesday morning, April 7, a man was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash in Lexington.

According to Lexington Police, the collision happened on West Fifth Avenue around the area of US Highway 29. The collision occurred when 40-year-old Tony Smyre was driving his SUV while impaired, causing him to crash into a motorcycle.

Paramedics and numerous other local responders were dispatched to the scene. The 30-year-old motorcyclist, identified as 30-year-old Kyle Blackwell, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested Smyre on charges of DWI and driving with a revoked license.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
