Lexington, NC – Serious Pedestrian Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer on I-85

Lexington, NC (April 14, 2021) – Around 2:24 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, April 13, a serious pedestrian crash occurred on a highway in Lexington.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-85 around the area of mile marker 96. A pedestrian was walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a tractor-trailer headed through the area.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was airlifted to Lexington Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Only one lane of traffic was blocked for a period of time following the collision.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
