Asheville, NC – One Killed in Fatal Crash on Lees Creek Rd

Asheville, NC (April 18, 2021) – Around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, April 15, a fatal crash involving a fire truck occurred in Asheville.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Lees Creek Road at the entrance to the Eblen Intermediate School. A passenger vehicle and a fire truck collided in the area due to reasons that are not fully known.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were present at the scene. The unidentified driver of the passenger vehicle was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead due to traumatic injuries.

No fire crews were injured. It is believed that they were on their way to a structure fire at the Erwin High School when the accident happened.

Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
