Charlotte, NC – Hit-and-Run Crash at Eastway Dr & Weldon Ave

Charlotte, NC (January 15, 2021) – Around 5:50 p.m. on the evening of Friday, January 15, a hit-and-run crash occurred at an intersection in Charlotte.

According to Charlotte officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Eastway Drive and Weldon Avenue. Few details have been released but police confirmed that two vehicles collided, one of which immediately fled the scene of the accident. Police did not say if they were able to catch the driver responsible for the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the collision to assist those with injuries. One or more victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to the hospital for treatment. Their conditions are not yet known.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident continues.
