Hickory, NC – Leisa White Killed in Fatal Crash on NC-70

Hickory, NC (January 26, 2021) – Around 1:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon, January 25, a woman was killed in a fatal crash on a Hickory highway.

According to police, the accident happened in the southeast lanes of NC-70 when one vehicle crossed into the other lane of traffic in the area. This caused the vehicles to collide head-on forcefully.

The driver who was driving the vehicle in the wrong lane of traffic was identified as 26-year-old Aaron Lee Walker, who was intoxicated at the time of the accident. He was arrested on charges of death by motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, and more.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck has since been identified as 61-year-old Leisa White, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to traumatic injuries.

The roadway was blocked in several lanes following the collision.

No further details have been released. The investigation continues.
