Huntersville, NC (December 11, 2020) – Around 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning, December 11, a fatal bus crash occurred at an intersection in Huntersville.
According to officials, the accident took place at the intersection of Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road and Beatties Ford Road. Police stated that CMW bus #135 and a Honda Civic collided with one another at the intersection. For reasons that are still under investigation, the front right side of the bus collided with the passenger’s side of the Honda. The Honda immediately ran off the side of the road while the bus sideswiped a utility pole on the right side of the roadway.
The driver of the Honda, who has since been identified as a 29-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the bus was injured and taken to a local hospital but is expected to be okay. There were no passengers on the bus at the time.
The intersection was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
