Statesville, NC – Child Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on 5th St

Statesville, NC (April 10, 2021) – At 5:54 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, April 6, a child was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Statesville.

According to the Statesville Police Department, the accident happened at 1000 5th Street. A 2-year-old child was playing in the area when he was struck by a driver who was operating a Ford Taurus. The vehicle was traveling south at the time.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The child was rushed to Davis Hospital and was pronounced dead while there.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
