Salisbury, NC (January 5, 2021) – Around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, January 5, a pedestrian accident with injuries occurred in Salisbury.
According to officials, the collision took place at the intersection of Sherrills Ford Road and Cameron Drive. Police confirmed that a pickup truck was initially pulling out onto the road from a driveway when it was struck by a moped. The driver of the truck got out when he was suddenly struck by a passing SUV.
The accident was so severe that it caused all of the vehicles to catch on fire. Police confirmed that the vehicles were badly damaged as a result.
The driver of the pickup truck who was struck by the SUV was immediately flown to the hospital by medical helicopter. His injuries are considered life-threatening in nature.
The roadway was blocked in the area for some time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the collision continues.
